Mobile Communications - Flextronics Acquires India's Deccanet Designs
December 20, 2004
Flextronics has recently acquired Deccanet Designs, a telecommunications design house in India, for an undisclosed sum to secure a solid foothold in the booming market. This all-cash deal also marks Flextronics' fourth consecutive acquisition in India, following similar moves toward Hughes Software Systems, Emuzed, and FutureSoft.

Through the addition of Bangalore-based Deccanet Designs, Flextronics looks to facilitate the drive to make India its design hub. The EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Service) provider is also aiming to ramp up its ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) and design services, which involve carrier-class communication devices and services.

Currently, Deccanet has some 300 personnel and various channel partners in major markets. Its customers include Motorola, Broadcom, Intel, Infineon, Huawei, OKI Telecom, Lycium, Hitron, Valiant, and ICS.
